Grants and Funding Opportunities for Individuals
We provide grants and funding opportunities to support research in British art. These are available to individuals at different stages of their careers. Our next round of funding opportunities will be Spring 2027, applications will open on Monday 30 November 2026.

linkIndividual Research Grants
Grants of up to £20,000 for individuals undertaking research travel and/or taking time to address specific research questions.

linkAuthor Grants
Grants of up to £6,000 for authors looking to publish written works reflecting advanced research in British art.

linkStudy Support Grants
Grants of £5,000 for students seeking financial support to begin or continue their studies either via a Master’s level or Doctoral level degree.

linkAndrew Wyld Research Support Grants
Grants of £2,000 for students undertaking research into historical works on paper. Funded by the Andrew Wyld Fund.
New Narratives Funding Opportunities
A set of opportunities specifically dedicated to expanding our understanding of British art through new perspectives. Applications for the Spring 2027 round will open Monday 30 November 2026.

Support towards University fees and living costs for individuals looking to undertake a Master’s degree (MA, MPhil, MSc or equivalent).

Support towards University fees and living costs, for three years, for individuals looking to undertake a doctorate in the field of British art.

Rome Fellowship
A three month residency at the British School at Rome for individuals undertaking advanced research on a British-Italian topic and who would benefit from an extended stay in Rome.
