Yale in London Spring: Immersion in the Art World

Yale in London Spring 2026 took place from Monday 9 March – Friday 20 March.

Are you curious about what it is really like to work in the arts, culture or heritage sectors? Would you be excited to get unparalleled access to some of the art world’s most creative and innovative figures? Yale in London Spring: Immersion in the Art World is designed to pull back the curtain on one of the world’s most vibrant cultural capitals.

Tailored for Yale College undergraduates, Yale in London Spring will take you beyond the gallery walls and public programmes and behind the scenes to explore the wide range of roles and careers that shape London’s cultural scene. From curators and conservators to educators, archivists, digital specialists and arts entrepreneurs, you will meet the people who make the sector tick – and find out how they got there.

Through exclusive first-hand access to museums, auction houses, heritage sites, artist collectives, galleries and more, you will gain insight into the professional pathways that exist across the field. You will also take part in hands-on workshops covering everything from exhibition design and object handling to audience engagement, publishing and provenance research. Whether you are already set on a career in the cultural sector or just starting to explore your options, this programme is your chance to build networks, develop practical skills and discover what is possible. It is enrichment beyond the degree – designed to help you make informed, inspired decisions about your future.

These opportunities include:

  • roundtable discussions
  • behind-the-scenes tours of exhibitions, museum stores and departments
  • practical workshops

Please note this programme is fully funded. Participant travel, accommodation, visas and expenses will be covered by the Paul Mellon Centre (PMC). You just need to bring your time and energy!

This opportunity is open to Juniors (fifth and sixth terms) and Sophomores (fourth term) enrolled at Yale College with a particular interest in pursuing a career in the arts, culture and heritage sector. Applicants can be from any academic background.

Please be aware:

  • First Years and Seniors are not eligible to apply for this opportunity.
  • This opportunity is available only once to an individual; previous participants cannot reapply.
  • Each year up to three of the programme’s twelve spaces are reserved for YCBA Student Guides. Please highlight on your application form if you are a Student Guide.
  • Students must be enrolled for the relevant Spring term to participate in this programme. Students on leave at the time of the programme are not eligible.
